Kate came into my life as long ago as 1955 Two naïve Irish girls, age nineteen met on the overnight boat from Dublin to Liverpool to embark on our careers as nurses. It was a unique friendship that lasted all our lives. It is hard to believe that the phone won’t be ringing anymore with Kate’s voice at the other end. It has been a privilege to have known Kate. I miss her so much but the wonderful memories of the good and the difficult times remain.
